Justice First is holding a Coordinated Call-In Day this Thursday, March 25. Tomorrow, we will flood the D.C. Council Committee on Public Services and Consumer Affairs with phone call demanding that they support our bill for a winter moratorium on heat shutoffs.

D.C. PSC approves Pepco rip-off
Despite over 2,000 letters to the D.C. Public Service Commission and D.C. Councilmembers vehemently opposing Pepco’s proposal for a $44.5 million rate hike and demanding a 50 percent rollback in rates, the Commission has approved a $19.8 million rate hike. Justice First holds that no rate hike is acceptable, not even so-called moderate ones.

On Tuesday, March 2, the Public Service Commission of the District of Columbia will be announcing its decision on Pepco’s outrageous request for a $44.5 million rate hike. This is your last chance to speak out against this outrageous rate hike request.

Pepco is demanding a $51.7 million rate hike. It claims that one of the reasons the rate hike is necessary is due to the current economic crisis. But who is suffering more from today’s economy: D.C. residents or Pepco?
